It’s Mother’s Day today.
We are all amazing mother’s in so many ways.
But I don’t want to leave it there…because that is only half the truth.
The other half is that we are terrible at mothering sometimes too. On purpose or not, we’ve had some epic fails as a mother.
We are BOTH. We are amazing AND terrible. We succeed AND we fail.
This is the standard of mothering…
I know this because this is how it is! And we all know it because we live it daily.
I am not saying to “settle”, to not care, to “give up”, to not try.
We can all be better mothers and striving for that is a beautiful thing.
What I am saying is that there is a place where we can mother well AND embrace the whole of our own humanity.
Beauty and ugly. Good and bad. Pride and shame. Love and struggle.
Know that you are enough AS YOU ARE RIGHT NOW and you can strive to be better too.
Embrace it all.
Then decide where you want to go as a whole REAL mother living a whole real human life.
